MS Office Live Web Space Design and Build

Fred I have added various things to the web site and compared it to the feathers offend by Homestead. It compares favorable and the ability to manage it from a non-technical status is very favorable. The ability to add images to pages create pages, have a document library for minutes and presentations is each to manage. We can get a web site up and running in short order.

One limit is the 500MB of space, this might be consumed by presentations in PP and PDF files. There are ways around this by using sites like www.slideshare.net (check it out) or by simply purchasing more space. Let’s get the input of Jack and if he is Ok with this we can proceed. I am building a wireframe (it’s pretty simple for this size site and then design each page taking into consideration the content input we have received so far (as documented in the shared Google document).

Website Host Decision

I suggest we review the following sites to make a decision on who should host the new Computer Club website.
www.justhost.com
www.ipage.com
www.homestead.com
www.networksolutions.com
http://home.officelive.com/Settings/Pages/Home.aspx

The decision should be based upon:
  • easy to use
  • reasonable cost
  • space
  • good templates
  • websites created can be used by all internet browsers (FireFox, IE, etc.)
  • club domain can be transfered
  • store documents

Not required, plus items for the host to have the ability to have:

  • blogs
  • calendars
  • edit code to add back to the top of the page
  • dropdown lists
  • search the site
  • search all websites
